Through Knowledge Ontario we have access to a number of databases.

Gale Databases (this link provides access to ALL databases)
The Gale databases include many of interest to elementary and secondary schools, public libraries, and some academic institutions. Those of interest to Universities include:

  • CPI.Q: Contains a wealth of Canadian and international periodicals — including Canada's national newspaper, The Globe and Mail; Maclean's weekly magazine; Canadian News Facts; and encyclopedic reference materials, such as the Canadian Parliamentary Guide and Canadian Newsmakers.
  • Academic OneFile: A source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. Coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects. Millions of articles available in both PDF and HTML full-text with no restrictions. Includes full-text coverage of the New York Times back to 1995. Updated daily.
  • Computer Database: For researchers who need to keep pace with the fast changing world of high technology. Today's most well-read and influential periodicals on the computer, telecommunications and electronics industries.
  • Expanded Academic ASAP: More than 6,000 full-text titles; more than 3,000 refereed journals; five newspaper indexes -- a total of nearly 10,200 titles in all with more than 25 years of backfile coverage from 1980 to present
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library: A database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.
  • General Business File ASAP: Analyzes company performance and activity, industry events and trends as well as the latest in management, economics and politics. A combination of broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings with full text and images available.
  • General OneFile: A one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics.
  • General Reference Center Gold: From national news magazines and encyclopedias to core business journals, General Reference Center GoldTM has the full-text and image resources students and researchers need.
  • GLBT Life and Issues e-Collection: A customized group of journals dealing with gay, lesbian, bisexual & transgender issues.
  • Grzimek's Animal Life: An online encyclopedia covering all species.
  • Health & Wellness Resource Center: A fully integrated, ever-growing electronic resource center for all levels of health research.
  • InfoTrac OneFile: Provides instant access to an unprecedented number of periodicals.
  • InfoTrac Religion & Philosophy
  • Military & Intelligence Database
  • National Newspaper Index: Indexing (no full text) of America's top five newspapers: The New York Times (Late and National Editions); The Wall Street Journal (Eastern and Western Editions); The Christian Science Monitor (National Edition); The Washington Post(Final Edition); and The Los Angeles Times (Home Edition).
  • Thomson Gale LegalTrac: Provides indexing for approximately 875 titles including major law reviews, legal newspapers, bar association journals and international legal journals.
