Description
|
This online resource takes Grzimek's acclaimed 17-volume Animal Life Encyclopedia — the print standard for conventional animal reference collections — a step further with constantly updated with facts, figures, news and views. (from the website)
This multimedia encyclopedia includes information on mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. Use the Advanced Search feature to find a specific species.
Grzimek's is geared toward ALL grade levels (Grade 1-), so it will not provide the indepth scholarly content required for full research at a University level. Use it as a reliable starting point, quick fact finder, or a source of images, sounds, videos, etc. The References may be helpful in pointing you to additional resources.

Stable URL
|
A stable url (or persistent link) is a link that connects a user to a particular item in a database or on the web.
At the bottom of each entry there is a url and document number - neither of these will act as a stable url that takes you back to the entry. The document number can be used as a search term in the Advanced Search.
Use the "Bookmark & Share" features at the top of the entry (marked with a yellow star and red + sign). Bookmark displays the link so you can copy it. You can also email the link to yourself or add it to one of the applications you use.
To ensure off-campus access, include the proxy prefix:
http://web2.trentu.ca:2048/login?url=
If you accessed the resource through the proxy server, this should already be included in the url provided.
Example: http://web2.trentu.ca:2048/login?url=http://animals.galegroup.com/web/grzimeks/animals/Philoria_frosti
or
http://animals.galegroup.com.cat1.lib.trentu.ca:8080/web/grzimeks/animals/Philoria_frosti
Either of these links can be used to navigate a Trent user back to the entry, whether on campus or off.
