Canada web sites. Collections marked as available from libraries
participating in the Depository Services Program " DSP"
or the Data Liberation Initiative "DLI"
can be obtained from the Trent Library MaDGIC Unit (some restrictions
apply).

The DLI provides academic institutions with affordable access to
Statistics Canada’s data files and databases for teaching and research.

CANSIM
THROUGH CHASS (restricted access)
CANSIM (Canadian Socio-economic Information Management System), is
Statistics Canada's computerized data base and information retrieval
service. Trent Library's subscription to CANSIM is accessed through
CHASS Data Centre at the University of Toronto. CANSIM includes over
700,000 time-series relating to such topics as the System of National
Accounts, Labour, Manufacturing, Construction, Trade, Agriculture

data from Statistics Canada's Census of Canada. This tool allows
users to subset files and export data in varied formats including
html, text, spreadsheet, SAS and SPSS.
<odesi>
(Ontario Data Documentation,
Extraction Service and Infrastructure),
a web-based data extraction system delivered through Scholars
Portal, provides common data, integrated services and unprecedented
access to a significant number of datasets. This application facilitates
the exploration (searching, data manipulation, creation of summary
statistics, graphing and export) of multiple, sophisticated data
sets quickly making even the novice an autonomous and innovative
researcher. Tables can be saved in Excel or Adobe format, and
full datasets or subsets can be downloaded into statistical packages
(SPSS, SAS, STATA, Statistica, etc.).
<odesi> is a growing data resource that will include Statistics
Canada datasets released through DLI (e.g. Census, PUMFs, Special
Surveys, General Social Surveys, Health Surveys) , public opinion
data (e.g. Gallup Canada, POLLARA, Listening to Canadians, Centre
for Research and Information on Canada), public-domain files such
as the Canadian National Election Surveys and selected files from
the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research
(ICPSR).

to these publications, SourceOECD offers access to
24 OECD statistical databases in an interactive way.
This allows users to build their own tables from the latest
available data, online, in real time. The interactive databases
are presented using the Beyond 20/20 software. This is easy
to use and requires no plug-ins or special licenses. Users
can build their own tables and then export them in .csv or
Excel formats, as well as in Beyond 20/20 format.
