A
resource which has advanced archival research immensely is now available. ARCHEION is a database of archival holdings in Ontario created under the auspices
of the Canadian Council of Archives and the Archives Association of Ontario.
This electronic "union list" of resources is linked to the national
list, Archives Canada. Trent University Archives
was a participant in the pilot project and we have all
of our records submitted to ARCHEION complete with clickable links to our full-text,
on-line finding aids. ARCHEION and Archives Canada are important aids to researchers
as they may now search for archival holdings throughout Ontario and across Canada by title, subject, repository
or name.
The University of Saskatchewan maintained an excellent site which organized and
listed archives across Canada by type. Even if an archives doesn't all have its
finding aids on-line, just knowing the hours, an address and a contact person
can be very useful. The new URL located at Archives Canada is http://www.archivescanada.ca/car/menu.html
Locally, Peterborough Museum and Archives, managed by the Culture & Heritage Division of the City of Peterborough, is an excellent resource. The PMA web site includes links to genealogical resources, other museums and archives, and information on the holdings of the PMA itself. The URL is http://www.peterboroughmuseumandarchives.ca
Following are links to web sites of two additional organizations with local resources. Both offer memberships to the public.

A similar organization called U-Links ( http://www.highlandsmediaarts.com/ulinks/ ) sponsors community-based projects based in the Haliburton region. The U-Links office is located in Minden where they too maintain copies of past projects.
Trent Radio has created a database of their collection of historical audio recordings. For a list of titles, click here.
Other sites which comprise supplementary research resources are listed with annotations on a separate page.
