Permission To Copy Manuscript or Other Archival Material

In return for permission to procure the reproductions of manuscript or other unique materials from Trent University Archives the researcher is advised as follows:

1. Any and all responsibility for questions of copyright which may arise from the preparation of reproductions, or their use in any way, will be assumed by the researcher.

2. These reproductions or their contents are procured for the purpose of private study and scholarly research, and the reproductions and their contents may not be further reproduced or published in part or in full or given to another person or made available to another person or institution without the written permission of Trent University Archives.

3. Researchers should be aware that copyright for all published and unpublished material is retained by the creator of the document during his or her life time and by their estate for 50 years from the death of that creator. Copyright on photographs remains with the photographer for his or her life time plus 50 years. Trent University Archives is the copyright holder on many collections, but not all. The New Copyright Law and Archives contains more detailed information.
