BIOGRAPHY / HISTORY
Jean Murray Cole was born in 1927. She and her husband, A.O.C. Cole, shared the editorialship of a number of books including "The Illustrated Historical Atlas of Peterborough" (1975) and "Kawartha Heritage" (1981). Jean Murray Cole is a former journalist and has published a number of historical texts concerning Peterborough and area. Her major publications include "Exile in Wilderness" (1979), "The Loon Calls: A History of the Township of Chandos" (1989), and "South Monaghan: The Garden of Eden" (1998). Jean is an active member of the Friends of the Bata Library and has been a long-standing member of the Peterborough Historical Society.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY
Fonds was in the custody of Jean Murray Cole before it was donated to Trent University Archives in November 2005.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
Fonds consists of research notes, reports, and clippings on indigenous peoples in the Peterborough area, Margaret Laurence, Catharine Parr Traill, and local historical subjects.
