BIOGRAPHY / HISTORY
Professor Richard Dellamora was born in 1944 in the United States. He received his education at Yale, Cambridge, and Dartmouth College and has taught English and Cultural Studies at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario since 1971. He is internationally recognized as an expert on Victorian-era literature and society with special emphasis on gay themes. In 1998 he won the prestigious Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. He is the author of several books and many articles.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY
This fonds was created by and in the custody of Richard Dellamora before it was donated to Trent University Archives.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
This fonds consists of correspondence, research material, manuscripts and publications pertaining to the scholarly works of Professor Richard Dellamora. The materials relate largely to his publications, which include "Masculine Desire" (1990), "Apocalyptic Overtures" (1994), "Postmodern Apocalypse" (1995), "The Work of Opera" (1996), and "Victorian Sexual Dissidence" (1999), as well as several journal articles. Research notes encompass such nineteenth-century writers as Walter Pater, Oscar Wilde, John Ruskin and Algernon Swinburne.
