Library Dos and Don'ts

Library dos and don'ts are designed to make the Library a more productive and secure space for all library users.

Do make sure you know what library materials you have borrowed. Return them on time to avoid fines and as a courtesy to others. Login to My Account in TOPCAT to see what books you have on loan, overdues, reminder notices, etc.

Do look after library materials, equipment, furniture and facilities. Help keep them in good condition for future users.

Do take a break and use a nearby cafeteria. Food is not to be eaten in the Library. It attracts insects and damages library materials. Food that smells good to you may smell offensive to others. Drinks in lidded containers are allowed; no open cups, mugs or cans, please.

Don't leave your property unattended even for a moment. Thieves work fast!

Do use areas designated for group or quiet study appropriately. Respect the needs of others. Please speak in a low voice when conversing with others. The 3rd and 4th floors are intended for quiet study only.

Do respect copyright and codes of conduct for computer use.

Do bring your ID card with you. It is required for identification, borrowing library material and access purposes

Don't disturb others with your cell phone. Make or receive your calls outside of the Library. Turn off the ringer on your phone or set it to vibration mode when you are in the Library.

Do ask library staff for help in any situation. Don't hesitate! We're here for you!
