Policy Statement on Display Case BookingsThe display case at the entrance to the Bata Library is the only centrally located area on the Symons Campus for displaying information about programs, events and services offered and/or presented by University Departments, Programs, Units or Organizations. As such, demand for use of this space is at times heavy, therefore the following list sets out in order of priority those who can reserve time in the Display Case.
Bookings of the Display Case are made through the Circulation Coordinator and done on a first-come, first-served basis with the following proviso: University Administrative units, Student organizations, or Academic Programmes and Departments may displace a non-university booking provided notice is given up to 3 weeks before the date in question. Furthermore the Library shall have the right to displace any booking provided a minimum of 3 weeks notice is given. Bookings of the Display Case by an organization will normally be limited to once a term. The Library, i.e. the Circulation Services Department, will, endeavour to accommodate those who wish bookings on specific dates, however no guarantee can be made that a desired date will be available. To book the display case, contact the Circulation Coordinator via e-mail or via telephone at 705-748-1011 ext. 7430. Bookings are confidential to avoid conflict over dates. Bookings can be made up to 4 months in advance of the desired timeslot. Anyone who fails to use their allotted timeslot in the display case on two consecutive occasions will be denied use of the Display Case for a year from the date of their last booking. The Library will not undertake to censor subject matter on display. In cases of dispute over the subject matter of a display, university-related displays as outlined in 1-3 above are the concern of the group mounting these displays and not the Library. Non-university displays in dispute may be referred to the University Librarian who may forward the matter to the Department of Communication for a decision. Approved by the Library Advisory Sub-Committee: January 25, 2008.
