Computers in the Library
The Information Commons of the Library provides about 100 PCs for student use. They are available on a first come, first served basis, and they require a Trent novell network account. All Trent students, staff, and faculty have these accounts. If you don't know your account information (username and password), ask at the IT Technical Support Centre (lower floor of the library) or go to www.trentu.ca/claimid to get it.
The PCs in the library are the same as those in Computer Labs, and the same services are available.
- For help with any computer issues, the IT Technical Support Centre is located on the first floor of the library.
Printing is available from the library PCs, and print jobs can be released from either of the Library print release stations (main floor by the elevators or lower floor) or from the Computer Lab print release stations.
Computing Services provides more information about the computing facilities on campus.
Public Access
Neither the library nor the University provide internet access to the public. A Trent network account is required for using the main computing workstations.
Throughout the library there are several "express" workstations that do not require a login. These workstations are available for anyone to use, are meant for quick searching of the library catalogue (TOPCAT), and have restrictions in place that only allow access to Trent websites. They cannot print, save, or email information.
Classrooms
Some of the computers are located in classrooms, and are not available for use when a class is in session. There are 20 PCs in the large classroom and 9 in the small one, including some with specialized GIS software.
These rooms are booked through the University's Room Booking service.
