Science

Specific mathematical operations and certain technical laboratory skills pose a variety of challenges for students in the sciences.  Many of these skills are not formally addressed in lectures and hence, are considered as assumed skills.

The material presented here is intended to bridge the gap of common knowledge with skill mastery. Listed below are technical resources to assist students enrolled in general science/laboratory courses with performing tasks involving a given laboratory technique.

Scientific field work can pose a number of stressful challenges such as working in extreme environmental conditions involving dramatic temperature fluxes, harsh terrain and constant immersion in water. Even working in a laboratory unit can pose risks and challenges of its own including chemical safety, biohazard safety, and which type of glove material to use for chemical compatibility.   Our useful wellness links will assist you in overcoming these challenges and minimizing unnecessary risks.
