Overview
People using trails often learn about the
natural and cultural environment as a result of innate curiosity,
interpretation by experts, or formal instruction by teachers. The educational
impact on a child or adult using a trail with or without an interpreter or
teacher can be measured through a quiz administered before and after using a
trail. Studying trail user use of interpretive brochures and guidebooks,
participation in interpretive trail trips, as well as responses to interpretive
signs can also help assess educational impacts.
