Tonya Bauermann completed her M.Sc. degree in the Applications of Modelling in the Natural and Social Sciences graduate program at Trent University. She is also a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPsgT). Tonya is currently working on her Ph.D. at Queen's University. Tonya's research interests are in the area of sleep and sleep disorders assessment, and her thesis focused on the development of a new multi-dimensional self-report instrument for the assessment of sleep problems. Tonya's interests in sleep also extend to dream research, and she has conducted laboratory dream research investigating the relationship between alexithymia and dream processes.

Barbara Bond completed her M.Sc. degree in the Applications of Modelling in the Natural and Social Sciences graduate program at Trent University. Barbara
is currently a professor of psychology at Sir Sandford Fleming College of Applied Arts and Technology. Her research interests include emotional and social competencies, as well as internalizing and externalizing behaviours, across the life-span.

Jenny Eastabrook is currently at Queen’s University working on her PhD in developmental psychology program. She completed her M.Sc. degree in the Applications of Modelling in the Natural and Social Sciences graduate program at Trent University. Jenny’s research interests include emotional and social competencies, with a specific focus on the development of emotion-regulation abilities in adolescents.

Marjorie Hogan completed her M.Sc. in the Applications of Modelling in the Natural and Social Sciences graduate program. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in the School and Clinical program. Her current research extends the work she did with the Trent Academic Success and Wellness project for her M.Sc. thesis. Marjorie is continuing to explore how emotional and social competencies predict success at university. Additionally, she is looking at the prediction of academic success in high school by social and emotional competencies as well as perceived social support.

Derek Julian completed his M. Sc. degree in the Applications of Modelling in the Natural and Social Sciences graduate program at Trent University. He currently works at Wellness Works Professionals as the Program Co-coordinator and Behaviour Therapist. Derek’s clinical practice affords him the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary chronic pain treatment center. Derek’s research has focused on the relationship of emotional competency, coping strategies, pain and function in the pain patient population. Derek is a Certified Kinesiologist, Registered Rehabilitation Professional, and a member of the Canadian Pain Society.

Dr. Sohail Khattak is the Pediatrician in Chief at The Kids Clinic in Whitby, Ontario. He is also an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Toronto, and a physician in the Division of Emergency Services at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Khattak has extensive experience assessing and treating children and adolescents with a variety of internalizing and externalizing problems. He is also an authority on treating pregnant mothers and new born children who have been exposed to substance abuse, organic solvents, and other drug exposures.

Peggy Shaughnessy completed her M.A. in Canadian and Native Studies at Trent University. She currently works as a research consultant on Aboriginal issues including rehabilitation programs, family violence prevention, emotional management and anger control, and counselling. She has worked extensively with the Correctional Service of Canada to educate staff and management on Aboriginal issues, to provide needs assessments for Aboriginal men and women offenders, and to develop programs to assist Aboriginal offenders while incarcerated and in their rehabilitation process. Her research interests include emotional and social competencies (i.e., emotional intelligence and alexithymia) in Aboriginal offenders.

Laura Wood completed her M.Sc. degree in the Applications of Modelling in the Natural and Social Sciences graduate program at Trent University. Laura currently holds a position at Trent University in the Office of Institutional Research and Strategic Planning as the Senior Research Analyst. Prior to her current position at Trent, Laura was the co-ordinator of the EHRL. Her role in the EHRL included co-ordinating major psychological research projects related to emotion-regulation abilities, particularly the relationship between emotional competency and success across the life-span. Laura continues to be involved with many of the projects taking place in the EHRL particularly those related to emotional and social competencies (i.e., emotional intelligence, alexithymia).
