The Emotion and Health Research Laboratory (EHRL) brings together a number of researchers interested in studying the development of emotion-regulation abilities, as well as the relationship between these abilities and mental and physical health. In addition, there is an interest in studying the relationship between emotional competency and academic achievement across the life-span. The EHRL has several broad goals. The first is to promote research activities that may extend current knowledge about emotion, health, and academic achievement. We are particularly interested in work on the assessment of key constructs in this area. The second goal is to help train new researchers, educators and health care professionals. The third goal is to promote knowledge about emotion and health, as well as emotional competency and academic achievement among educators, health care professionals, and the general public. Relevant activities for this goal include publications in journals, presentations at academic meetings, articles in non-academic sources, and informal presentations to community or professional groups. The members of the EHRL wish to thank the following funding agencies, organizations, and companies for their support: Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI); Canada Research Chair (CRC) program; Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR); Multi-Health Systems (Toronto, Ontario); Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program; Ontario Innovation Trust (OIT); Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre; Premier's Research Excellence Award (PREA); and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). |
