All students from accredited colleges or universities in Canada, who would be in their third or fourth year of undergraduate studies during the year in Thailand, are eligible to apply for the program. Recent graduates who have not yet begun graduate study are also eligible to apply.
Selection preferences include:
(1) an average of 70 percent or better
(2) academic and/or career interests that would be enhanced by study in Thailand
(3) sufficient maturity and adaptability for dealing with the stresses of living in an unfamiliar society
(4) interest in and aptitude for intensive language training.
(5) Preference will be given to Native Studies majors, however students enrolled in other majors may apply.
The previous Thailand Year Abroad Program included students from many disciplines.
Prior knowledge of the Thai language is NOT a requirement for participation in the program.
